A drug smuggler faking as a custom officer was arrested by men of the NDLEA who busted a drug smugglers' hideout.
A suspected drug baron, Chidubem Aguezeala who paraded himself as a custom officer has been arrested by men of theNational Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Aguezeala was nabbed after officials of the NDLEA raided a hotel allegedly used as a hideout by suspected drug barons in Lagos State.
Chidubem Aguezeala and another suspect Stanley Odidiazorwere using the hotel as a base to traffic hard drugs to China.
Aguezeala was claiming to be a serving customs officer at the Tin Can port but investigation revealed that his claimed service number from the customs command was fake.
The NDLEA raided the hotel after they got a tip from another suspected drug smuggler, Emmanuel Obi, who was arrested by the NDLEA attached to the Murtula Muhammed International Airport.
Emmanuel Obi who was arrested alongside two other suspects-Henry Ezeocha and Isaac Tochukwu- had about 1.2 kilogrammes of heroin in his possession while he was nabbed.
Henry and Isaac also wanted to smuggle 34.6 kg of cannabis and heroin to China.
Chidubem Aguezeala and Stanley Odidiazor were said to have planned to sponsor Obi’s trip to China.
Emmanuel Obi according to a Punch report revealed that he was promised $4,000 to smuggle heroin to China.
“I was given 100 wraps of heroin by Stanley Odidiazor to swallow. I was able to swallow 68 wraps because it was my first time. They also promised to pay me $4,000, but unfortunately the drug was detected,” Emmanuel said.
