Cristiano Ronaldo Break-up with Irina Shayk responsible for Real Madrid star’s outburst against Cordoba?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s outburst at the Archangel stadium where he violently lashed out on two Cordoba players, earning himself a Red Card in the process may or may not be linked to his break-up with Russian model, Irina Shayk.

Many say that the Real Madrid star’s action is nothing far from football, but considering the nature of the incident and the persona of the player, it could be attributed to an emotional shake up, barely two weeks to the split from the former girlfriend.

A Portuguese TV representative spoke about the Ronaldo’s family hopes for the player to find a woman who ‘loves and respects him’, even as she countered thoughts of a ‘relationship’ between Ronaldo and Real Madrid TV journalist, Lucia Villalon being the catalyst to the reaction of the 2014 FIFA Ballon D’Or winner.

Football pundits however argue that it was simply as a result of Madrid’s poor show against Cordoba, an inferior but supremely motivated opposition on the day.

Ronaldo being a player who likes to win all the time, must have been frustrated that his plays were hindered and was held down by the Cordoba side who with Real Sociedad are the only two teams not to have conceded from the boots of the three time world best player.

Ronaldo’s aggression may have imploded with a lack of protection form the referee, wrong calls where he awarded Cordoba a penalty after the ball accidentally hit Ramos’ arm, following a bounce off from his knee.

He himself should have been awarded a penalty when he was held down in the opposition’s box by Jose Crespo; the same player who first suffered Ronaldo’s aggression.

‘He had become a bit hot-headed because things were not working out for him.

'Things were not going right for the team and he had become a bit nervous because he wasn’t able to do what he normally does. He crossed the line but it's gone and forgotten. I hope he gets just a normal ban and nothing more,’ Edimar, Ronaldo’s second victim said after the game.

Luckily, Ronaldo will only get the ‘normal’ two-match ban for a straight red card as the referee only mentioned ‘the kick’ and not the hit on the face; neither did he call it a ‘violent conduct’.

On the other hand, an alteration on the referee’s report before Tuesday when the Spanish Football Disciplinary Committee meets, will keep Ronaldo in the stand for three straight  La Liga games.
